I guess it’s a bit of both? It’s an infinite game, I’m in this for the long game, but taking 10-20 years to hit ramen profitability isn’t something I can stomach either
Does Ramen profitability, in your context, mean going full time on your side projects?
Because that I can get, I've been on a similar path for a similar length of time.
Or if I say "since I started writing..." longer. Or since I first self published, about a decade now. I'm still annoyed at that kid for not publishing "as slowly as" a book a year with no kids!
Rethinking on your post, with jobs and services the market is often much clearer. Has the same been clear with your indie hacks before you started the project? Or has it been curiousity and learning driven and then looking for a market?
Last thought, your Twitter audience is getting quite substantial now, perhaps your growth curve is coming?
Yes ramen profitable means I can stop consulting and just work on indie products.
Yeah with products it’s been harder to have that clarity, and to achieve PMF. A lot of it right now is building skill and competency (in say marketing and coding) so I guess i’m hoping so the inflection point soon
I'm reading up on Ben Meer's growth in Chanel's Growth In Reverse, maybe next post consider detailing your current systems for finding PMF, building, shipping and marketing.
It might shed some light on inefficiencies holding you back.
As you said it's also the season of your life. Is there a deadline or is it a pastime, a pursuit, an infinite game that has no end. It is the end?
