June wrap-up
Goalless June was a success. I succeeded in doing nothing. Probably the only time I pass with flying colours lol. Seriously though… taking intentional downtime had always been difficult for me. So I consider this a win.
June had been hard though. Lots of minor ailments here and there. Health isn’t great. Sleep was poor. It was my birthday month – I turned 43, yet the month didn’t quite feel quite celebratory. It felt like… just another month. Just another month struggling to keep up with everything.
The month passed by in a blink. The days are long, but the months are short. I guess that’s the life of a new parent, a clueless new dad? Just making it through to bedtime often feels like an achievement in itself.
Sometimes it feels like I’ve already won juggling these many roles and challenges. But yet, I don’t feel victorious.
Much to reflect on.

Viral tweets:
– No mega viral tweets but 3 tweets in the 10K-20K impressions. A build in public tweet, a funny tweet, and a birthday tweet. Special occasions are good for tweet impressions, it seems!
What’s interesting:
Overall I tweeted less because I was resting in June, hence the usual suspects went down - impressions, likes, replies.
Second time getting 4% and above for engagement rate. It climbed 0.2% more this month. Makes sense - building in public tweets are generally more engaging. In fact, the tweet about having zero sign-ups for my Sheet2Bio launch got 10.1% engagement! Highest it’s ever been for me.
Link clicks fell back down to normal levels after a mysterious doubling/tripling in Apr and May. Still unsure what happened in Apr and May! Expecting link clicks to fall in coming months as I stop shilling my products in my daily tweets.
Also started batch writing my tweets for the week from 11 June onwards. And not overthinking or over-editing it. Putting less effort, craft and quality into it felt weird since I’ve been doing for so many months, but to make Twitter sustainable, it was the right move. The side effect is that tweets will sound more offhand, which might counter the drop in quality? Expecting stats across the board to drop somewhat in the coming months.
“If you’re spending more than a minute on a tweet you’re doing it wrong. Editing is for stuff that lasts.” – @getpaidwrite
Sent out my first Revue newsletter! Repurposing my monthly wrap-ups as monthly newsletter updates.
Spoke at my very first Twitter Space! Loved it - informal, relaxed, free-flowing. More like a conference call with friends than a podcast.
Other Apr metrics
– Revenue:
Current MRR: US$109 (all from Lifelog)
One-off revenue: ~US$367
– Lifelog
No new features nor fixes.
1 new trial sign-up who cancelled immediately, compared to 4 new trial sign-ups in May, compared to 5 in Jan-Apr.
Minus $10 MRR because one subscriber cancelled. But thanks for all the support, Hakim!
Received a $10 payment for a one-month extension after the free trial (though subscription was cancelled after)
$0.39 payout from Medium
At this rate, doubt I’d hit my goal of $200 MRR by end 2022.
