Anything, not everything
You are probably conflating the two
Anything is not everything.
“You can do anything” is not the same as “You can do everything”.
Sound simple, but most conflate the two.
Anything means, there’s 1000 paths, and you can choose any one path.
Everything mean, there’s 1000 paths, you (try to) walk all of them.
I think that’s the fine print no one talks about when they hear people or society or social media tell them, “You can do/be anything”.
Because you do need to be discerning. Be selective. To curate. To weigh and prioritize. To meditate on it. And then decide, commit fully and act on one or at most two to three of those options. This is the reality.
The “everything” mindset is to not decide, not commit, sample 1000 paths, chase every shiny object, but never choose, never commit, never go deep enough to reach your dream. Or to decide to try to juggle all 1000 things, fail at most, drop the important ones, focus on the unimportant ones, and end up not accomplishing anything.
You can have anything.
You can’t have everything.
You can be anything.
You can’t be everything.
Anything is not everything.
Anything > everything
